This shrine started out as a request to St. Lucia (on front) for healing of my dry eyes -- a side-effect of my chemo-induced menopause -- and evolved into a celebration of the "new vision" I've received through my cancer.
The left inside panel shows a Frida Kahlo self-portrait with Diego Rivera (her lover/wounder) as her "third eye." The images on this panel remind me to look deeply into even painful matters.
The right inside panel deals with the "artistic eye" my artist friends have opened up for me. The crystal on top reminds me to trust my intuitive vision.
